This property presented a unique challenge: transforming a narrow yard into a stunning, functional space for entertaining, relaxation, and privacy. The limited yard space required a design that maximized usability without feeling cramped. Privacy was also a concern, as the clients needed a way to block views into their backyard while maintaining an elegant, lush aesthetic. The property’s problematic soil conditions posed structural challenges, necessitating a reinforced foundation to ensure stability and durability. Additionally, the existing patios featured varying elevations and materials, complicating efforts to create a seamless and cohesive design.

Through innovative planning and design, we overcame these challenges to deliver a breathtaking outdoor space. To address the narrow yard, we designed a sleek lap pool with a tanning ledge, perfect for family relaxation and entertainment. The poolscape also features a stunning glass tile overflow spa with metal scuppers, positioned to align with the office sliders and provide a picturesque view from inside the home. To enhance privacy, we planted mature Nellie R. Stevens hollies along the perimeter. These evergreens were chosen for their dense foliage and natural beauty, creating a lush screen that ensures privacy without compromising aesthetics. For the soil issues, we implemented reinforced concrete friction piers, a steel-and-shotcrete framework, and a state-of-the-art drainage system beneath the pool, guaranteeing long-term stability and durability. The landscaping was designed for beauty and ease of maintenance. Corten retaining walls were used to level the yard, while artificial turf provided a clean, low-maintenance finish. Finally, we carefully blended the existing patios by adjusting elevations and integrating complementary materials. This seamless transition enhanced the flow and usability of the outdoor space, making it as functional as it is visually stunning. The result is a thoughtfully designed retreat that maximizes every inch of the narrow yard. With its elegant design and attention to detail, the property now offers a private, family-friendly oasis perfect for relaxation and entertaining.
